What Is the Infinite Fusion Custom Sprite Finder?

The Infinite Fusion Custom Sprite Finder previews 3 sprite variants of any fusion and shows you where to find its hand-drawn custom sprite. You pick a head and a body, and the finder draws the normal, shiny and inverted sprites side by side, together with the head and body you need to look up the custom sprite.

The finder opens with Tyranitar + Salamence = Tyranmence (Rock/Flying). Its inverted fusion is Salamnitar, with Salamence as the head.

How to Preview Fusion Sprite Variants

To preview fusion sprite variants, pick 2 Pokemon and press Fuse Now!. There are 4 steps:

  1. Pick the head, the Pokemon whose colors you want.
  2. Pick the body, the Pokemon whose shape you want.
  3. Press Fuse Now! to draw the big sprite and the 3 variant sprites below it.
  4. Download the sprite as a PNG, or press Invert to swap head and body.

The 3 variants are:

VariantWhat it shows
NormalThe head's colors painted on the body's sprite
ShinyThe same sprite with the colors shifted 150° around the color wheel
InvertedThe other order: the body's colors on the head's sprite

Custom Sprites vs Auto-Generated Sprites

A custom sprite is pixel art drawn by a community artist for 1 fusion; an auto-generated sprite is made by the game from the 2 base sprites. Pokemon Infinite Fusion shows the custom sprite when one exists:

How Many Custom Sprites Are There?

Pokemon Infinite Fusion has 264,812 custom sprites, and 55.3% of its 331,799 fusions have at least 1. These are the counts from the Infinite Dex, which reads the game's files for version 6.6:

  • 249,610 custom sprites for fusions, including alternates.
  • 15,202 custom sprites for base Pokemon.
  • 183,384 fusions with at least 1 custom sprite; the other 148,415 use an auto-generated sprite.

New sprites are added in a sprite pack at the start or end of each month. A sprite's date is the pack it came in, usually 1 to 2 months behind the real date. FusionDex.org, which credits more than 6,000 artists, shows slightly different totals because it tracks newer data.

How to Find a Custom Sprite for a Fusion

To find a custom sprite, look up the fusion's head and body in a community dex. There are 5 steps:

  1. Note the head and the body from the finder above, such as Tyranitar (head) and Salamence (body).
  2. Open a community dex, such as Infinite Dex or FusionDex.org.
  3. Select the head and the body. Infinite Dex lets you set each Pokemon as head, body or either.
  4. Look at the background: green means a custom sprite, gray means the auto-generated placeholder.
  5. Check for alternates (an icon in the corner) and note the artist's name.

Pokemon after #251 use the game's own dex numbers, so search by name, not by National Dex number. Aegislash, for example, is #329 in the game.

How Custom Sprite Files Are Named

Custom sprite files are named head.body.png with the game's dex numbers. Aegislash is #329 and Goodra is #446 in the game's dex, so an Aegislash head on a Goodra body is the file 329.446.png. There are 3 more naming facts:

  • Order matters: 329.446.png and 446.329.png are 2 different fusions.
  • Pokemon #1 to #251 keep their National Dex numbers, so Charizard + Gengar is 6.94.png.
  • Save sprites as PNG files, the format used by the game's sprite folders.

How to Make a Custom Fusion Sprite

To make a custom fusion sprite, start from the body's sprite and add the head's features and colors. There are 5 steps:

  1. Pick a pixel art editor, such as Aseprite, GIMP, Paint.NET or Pixel Studio.
  2. Start with the body sprite, then add the head's face, markings and palette.
  3. Keep both Pokemon recognizable; use this finder's preview as a color reference.
  4. Clean the pixels: no half-pixels, stray pixels or blurred edges.
  5. Save as a clean PNG and share it in the official Pokemon Infinite Fusion Discord, where sprites are reviewed for the next sprite pack.

Always credit the artist when you share someone else's custom sprite.

How the Previews on This Page Are Made

The previews are generated in your browser and are not the game's sprites. The finder sorts the body sprite's pixels by brightness and paints them with the head's colors from dark to light. The shiny variant rotates every color by 150°, and the inverted variant swaps the 2 Pokemon. For shiny rules and odds in the game, see the Shiny Fusion Calculator, and for more fusion pictures, the Pokemon Fusion Art gallery.

Custom Sprite Finder FAQ

What is a custom sprite in Infinite Fusion?

A custom sprite is hand-drawn pixel art for 1 fusion, made by a community artist and added to Pokemon Infinite Fusion in a monthly sprite pack.

How many custom sprites are in Infinite Fusion?

Pokemon Infinite Fusion version 6.6 has 264,812 custom sprites, and 183,384 of its 331,799 fusions (about 55%) have at least 1.

How do I know if a fusion has a custom sprite?

Look it up in a community dex such as Infinite Dex or FusionDex.org. A green background means a custom sprite, and a gray background means the auto-generated placeholder.

Why do some fusions not have custom sprites?

There are more fusions than artists can draw, so the game uses auto-generated sprites for the rest.

How are custom sprite files named?

Custom sprite files are named head.body.png with the game's dex numbers, such as 329.446.png for an Aegislash head on a Goodra body.

Are the sprites on this page the game's sprites?

No. The previews are generated in your browser by painting the head's colors on the body's sprite. They are not the game's custom sprites.

Can I submit my own sprite?

Yes. Sprites are shared and reviewed in the official Pokemon Infinite Fusion Discord before they are added to a sprite pack.
