What Is a Fusion Type Calculator?
A fusion type calculator shows the weaknesses, resistances and immunities of any single or dual typing, such as the two types of a Pokemon fusion. You pick up to 2 types, and the calculator lists every attacking type that hits for 4×, 2×, ½×, ¼× or 0× damage.
Fusions can create typings that no official Pokemon has, so a type calculator is the fastest way to check a fusion before you use it in battle. This calculator uses the current type chart with all 18 types.
How to Use the Fusion Type Calculator
To use the fusion type calculator, select the fusion's two types. There are 3 steps:
- Find the fusion's types: Type 1 is the head's first type, and Type 2 is the body's second type. The Infinite Fusion Calculator works this out for you.
- Select the 2 types in the grid above.
- Read the chart: 4× and 2× weaknesses, ½× and ¼× resistances, and 0× immunities.
Example: Charizard + Blastoise is Fire/Water with no 4× weakness, while Blastoise + Charizard is Water/Flying and 4× weak to Electric.
How Dual-Type Damage Multipliers Combine
Dual-type damage multipliers are multiplied together. The game checks the attacking type against each of the 2 types and multiplies the 2 numbers:
| Against Type 1 | Against Type 2 | Total damage |
|---|---|---|
| 2× | 2× | 4× (double weakness) |
| 2× | 1× | 2× |
| 2× | ½× | 1× (neutral) |
| ½× | ½× | ¼× (double resistance) |
| Any | 0× | 0× (immune) |
Typings Only Fusions Can Make
17 of the 153 possible dual types do not appear on the standard form of any Pokemon. Fusions can create all of them. They are: Normal/Ice, Normal/Bug, Normal/Rock, Normal/Ghost, Normal/Steel, Fire/Electric, Fire/Ice, Fire/Fairy, Grass/Electric, Electric/Psychic, Ice/Poison, Ice/Steel, Ice/Fairy, Ground/Fairy, Bug/Dragon, Rock/Ghost, Dragon/Fairy.
The strongest fusion for 5 of these typings:
| Typing | Fusion | Name | BST |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fairy/Dragon | Xerneas + Koraidon | Xernidon | 694 |
| Fire/Fairy | Ho-Oh + Zacian | Ho-ian | 693 |
| Ghost/Normal | Giratina + Arceus | Giraeus | 709 |
| Fire/Electric | Ho-Oh + Zekrom | Ho-rom | 696 |
| Steel/Ice | Dialga + Kyurem | Diarem | 666 |
Best Defensive Typings
The best defensive typings have 1 weakness and many resistances or immunities. These 5 typings have the fewest weaknesses:
| Typing | Weak to | Resists | Immune to |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bug/Steel | Fire | 8 | Poison |
| Normal/Ghost | Dark | 2 | Normal, Fighting and Ghost |
| Water/Ground | Grass | 4 | Electric |
| Poison/Dark | Ground | 4 | Psychic |
| Ghost/Dark | Fairy | 1 | Normal, Fighting and Psychic |
For the most resistances, Steel typings lead: Normal/Steel (12 resistances and immunities), Electric/Steel (12 resistances and immunities), Ghost/Steel (12 resistances and immunities). Read the best defensive fusion typings guide for full team picks.
Worst Defensive Typings
The worst defensive typings have 7 weaknesses. Avoid these 5 when you pick a head and a body:
| Typing | Weak to | 4× weaknesses |
|---|---|---|
| Grass/Ice | 7 | Fire |
| Psychic/Rock | 7 | None |
| Grass/Psychic | 7 | Bug |
| Grass/Dark | 7 | Bug |
| Fighting/Rock | 7 | None |
How to Fix a Bad Fusion Typing
To fix a bad fusion typing, change the body or swap the order. There are 3 fixes:
- Swap head and body. The first type comes from the head, so swapping changes both types.
- Pick a body with a different second type. The body's second type becomes the fusion's Type 2.
- Use a one-type body to choose Type 2 exactly.
