Best Pokemon Fusions: Strongest, Safest and Fan-Favorite Picks

The best Pokemon fusions combine a high base stat total (BST), a typing with few weaknesses and a stat spread that fits one role. We fused every pair of 899 non-legendary Pokemon, 807,302 fusions in total, with the Pokemon Infinite Fusion formula and ranked them. Legendary Pokemon and Slaking are left out, because they would top every list.

Highest BST Fusions

The highest-BST non-legendary fusion is Blissey + Dragapult = Blisapult, with 646 BST. Blissey's 255 HP makes it the best head of all; the table shows the top fusion for 5 different heads:

#Head + BodyFusionTypesBST
1Blissey + DragapultBlisapultNormal/Ghost646
2Goodra + MetagrossGoogrossDragon/Psychic627
3Hydreigon + MetagrossHydregrossDark/Psychic613
4Tyranitar + MetagrossTyrangrossRock/Psychic608
5Florges + DragapultFlorapultFairy/Ghost608

Best Fusions by Role

The best fusion for a role puts each parent's best stats in the slot that leads them. The head leads HP, Sp. Atk and Sp. Def; the body leads Attack, Defense and Speed.

Best Fusions With a Great Typing

The safest strong fusions have 550+ BST and a typing with only 1 or 2 weaknesses. These 3 have the fewest weaknesses and the most resistances:

  • Blissey + Dragapult = Blisapult: Normal/Ghost, 646 BST, weak to Dark, and resists or is immune to 5 types.
  • Hydreigon + Sneasler = Hydresler: Dark/Poison, 573 BST, weak to Ground, and resists or is immune to 5 types.
  • Cursola + Ursaluna = Cursluna: Ghost/Normal, 561 BST, weak to Dark, and resists or is immune to 5 types.

Check any typing in the Fusion Type Calculator or read the best defensive fusion typings.

Best Generation 1 Fusions

The best fusion of two Kanto Pokemon is Snorlax + Dragonite = Snoronite, with 593 BST. These are useful early in a Pokemon Infinite Fusion playthrough:

  1. Snorlax + Dragonite = Snoronite (Normal/Flying, 593 BST)
  2. Vaporeon + Dragonite = Vapoonite (Water/Flying, 588 BST)
  3. Dragonite + Cloyster = Dragoster (Dragon/Ice, 585 BST)

Fusions That Beat Both Parents

44,820 of the 807,302 fusions have a higher BST than both of their parents. The biggest gain is Blissey + Haxorus = Blisorus: 625 BST, 85 more than the stronger parent. This works when the head is strong in HP, Sp. Atk and Sp. Def and the body is strong in Attack, Defense and Speed. More examples are in the Pokemon Merger.

Fan-Favorite Fusions

Fan favorites are picked for their design and theme, not only their stats. Here are 8 with their real numbers:

Always check both orders. Charizard + Gengar is Fire/Poison and 4× weak to Ground. Gengar + Charizard is Ghost/Flying with 519 BST and immune to Normal, Fighting and Ground. See Head or Body? for why.

How We Ranked These Fusions

Every ranking here is calculated, not voted. Each fusion uses the Pokemon Infinite Fusion rules: Type 1 from the head, Type 2 from the body, and each stat equal to (2 × dominant parent + other parent) ÷ 3. Type matchups use the current 18-type chart. Moves and abilities are not scored, so check them in the calculator before you build a team.

How to Find Your Own Best Fusion

  1. Start with a Pokemon you like and open it in the Infinite Fusion Dex.
  2. Sort by BST as head and as body to see its strongest partners.
  3. Check the typing in the Infinite Fusion Calculator, then plan the team in the Team Builder.
